Leading with Purpose: Lynn Lavallee’s Impact on Memory Care Innovation
Lynn Lavallee is recognized for Memory Care Innovation for her leadership in advancing dementia care through research-based training, person-centered care models, and industry initiatives like The Green Sock Project™.
At the heart of exceptional memory care is something deeper than programming or process. It’s understanding. It’s patience. It’s the ability to see the person beyond the diagnosis—and build systems that honor that person every single day.
For Lynn Lavallee, Chief Operating Officer of Omega Senior Living, that belief has shaped more than 20 years of leadership in senior living. Today, her work is being recognized on a national level. Lynn has been named to the Memory Care Innovation Awards Class of 2026 in the Senior Living category, an honor that reflects not only innovation, but meaningful impact on the lives of individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
A Leader Who Redefines What Memory Care Can Be
Lynn’s leadership is rooted in a simple but powerful question: How can we do this better—for residents, for families, and for the teams who care for them?
As COO, she oversees operations supporting more than 500 associates, residents, and families across Omega Senior Living communities. But her influence extends far beyond operations. She has consistently led initiatives that improve the daily experience of care—enhancing quality of life for residents while creating more supportive, effective environments for caregivers.
Her approach is both strategic and deeply human. She understands that innovation in memory care is not just about new ideas—it’s about implementing those ideas in a way that truly changes outcomes.
Transforming Environments, Elevating Lives
One of the most tangible examples of Lynn’s impact can be seen in her work transforming memory care environments. When a community’s memory care neighborhood fell short of the dignity and comfort residents deserved, Lynn led a full redesign—reimagining both the physical space and the care experience.
The result was more than a renovation. It became a place where residents felt safe, engaged, and supported. A place where families felt confident. A place where care teams could do their best work.
That transformation reflects a broader philosophy: memory care should never feel clinical or disconnected. It should feel intentional, engaging, and rooted in respect for each individual’s journey.
Advancing Clinical Excellence Through Education
Lynn’s commitment to memory care extends into education, training, and industry advocacy. She serves on the Board of the National Institute for Dementia Education (NIDE), helping shape how dementia care is taught and implemented across the country.
Through her leadership, Omega Senior Living established an exclusive partnership with NIDE—ensuring that every memory care community is NIDE-certified and that every associate receives specialized dementia training. This includes ongoing education that equips teams with the tools to better understand behavior, communicate effectively, and create meaningful engagement with residents.
This focus on education has raised the standard of care across Omega communities—embedding research-based practices into everyday interactions.
Driving Innovation Beyond Senior Living: The Green Sock Project™
Lynn’s vision for memory care doesn’t stop at the doors of a community. She has been instrumental in expanding dementia awareness into the broader healthcare system through the development of The Green Sock Project™.
Created in partnership with NIDE, this initiative provides training for hospitals, emergency rooms, and rehabilitation centers to better identify and support individuals living with dementia during short-term medical stays.
The concept is simple but powerful: a visual identifier signals to healthcare professionals that a patient may be living with dementia, prompting a shift in communication and care approach. From there, staff are equipped with practical strategies to better understand, connect with, and engage that individual.
The impact is significant. In environments that are often fast-paced and unfamiliar, this approach helps reduce confusion, prevent distress, and improve overall quality of life during critical moments of care.
It’s a clear example of Lynn’s ability to take a real-world challenge and create a scalable, meaningful solution, one that extends far beyond a single organization.
A Culture of Compassion, Integrity, and Growth
Those who work alongside Lynn often describe her leadership in the same way: approachable, thoughtful, and deeply committed. She leads by example, holding herself and her teams to high standards while creating a culture where people feel supported, empowered, and valued.
She invests in people—mentoring team members, developing future leaders, and fostering environments where both residents and associates can thrive. Her ability to balance accountability with compassion has strengthened team cohesion and elevated the overall standard of care.
Recognized for Impact That Matters
Being named to the Memory Care Innovation Awards Class of 2026 is a meaningful recognition—but it reflects something larger than an individual achievement. It represents the collective impact of a leader who has dedicated her career to improving the lives of others.
Through innovation, advocacy, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, Lynn Lavallee continues to shape the future of memory care—raising the bar not only for Omega Senior Living, but for the entire industry.
